Beer Brat Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 package 100 Calorie Chicken Brat 12 oz.
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 4 s garlic cloves
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 can canned tomatoes
  • 1 can white beans
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 12 fl ozs beer
  • 1 jalapeno, sliced

Directions

Warm oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add onion, bell pepper and garlic, and cook until the vegetables are tender but not brown, stirring occasionally. Add the ground pork, and cook until brown.

Stir in chili powder and cumin and cook for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes with juices, beans, tomato paste, beer, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer then reduce heat to low. Simmer, uncovered for an hour.

Meanwhile, cook sliced brats in a skillet over medium heat. Let the brats rest for 5 minutes and then slice. Stir the brats into the chili during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Season with salt to taste.

Scoop chili into soup bowls and top with shredded cheese, sour cream and chopped onion.
